Farrell Flat is part of the Mid North Region of South Australia and has some of the most productive farming land in the state with grain and hay production and animal husbandry.

The region is recognized as an attractive residential location with commercial centres nearby at Clare and Burra.   Farrell Flat is central to the important historic towns of Burra and Mintaro.
